Xilinx pioneered the field programmable logic array (FPGA), an innovative technology, and launched its first commercial product in 1985. Currently, Xilinx meets more than half of the world's demand for FPGA products. Xilinx product line also includes complex programmable logic devices (CPLD). In some control applications, CPLD is usually faster than FPGA, but it provides less logic resources.
